Starting Your Internet Business: Making a Business Plan

Business planning is, it seems, hardest for most people to get started with, that first session with notepad and pencil.

You know that it is important.

You know why it is important.

But you just have a hard time getting the energy and motivation together to actually begin on it. If this sounds like it might be you you, we hope we can help. All you need is a little organization, structure and motivation.
You need to know what the different elements of a good business plan are so that you know what it is you are actually trying to create. This is always easier than sitting with a blank screen or blank piece of paper and wondering how to even begin.

Focus
Your focus is a very important part of the business plan. Who is your audience? Who are you writing it for? What are you trying to convey to them through the business plan? A business plan can be a very powerful communication tool so you need to keep all of these things in mind while you are writing it.
When you know what you are trying to write about, you can focus yourself to be sure you include the proper points in your business plan. Remember you need to describe your business, what its purpose is, what its goals are and how you plan to achieve those goals.

Read other plans
Looking over sample business plans and reading over those of successful and established companies can not only show you what a successful plan should look like but will give you ideas and a basis for creating your own. You will see the elements and steps involved and are able to recreate them for yourself and your own business.
Brainstorm and take notes while you read other plans. See the questions they answer in their plans and ask yourself the same questions about your own business then jot down the answers so you can add them to your plan. For example,
•    What is my product or service?
•    How much will it cost?
•    How does it compare in the current market?

When you take your time, stay focused and learn as much as possible about what goes into a business plan, you can create a successful one that will help your company grow and achieve its goals.

Business planning is, in my estimation, core to business success. One thing to ALWAYS include in one’s business plan is a section on skills and what is being done to acquire and improve them. 10 Tips To Get An Ideal Domain Name For Free Domain Traffic

• Pick a dot com domain for the domain name of your chief website. This is a natural choice for online business and ranks high among the popular search engines.
• Don’t forget your country domain. If you’re based in India, you should register the version ‘co.in’ and establish a 301 redirect to your chief website.
• There are bound to be common misspellings of your chief domain. Register them and establish a 301 redirect to your main website. This is a wise way to get free domain traffic.
• Your domain name should contain your primary keyword, which is obtained by abbreviating your business into a single word. Yes, it should be just ONE WORD; not two words or a phrase. This word should be the domain name of your chief website.
• Look for a domain name that contains this word and a few other letters, if possible. You should use ONLY your primary keyword, plus a few other letters; no hyphens and no numbers. You can use your primary keyword either in the starting or at the end.
• Search for the top ten keywords that are related to the main theme of your website. “Wordtracker” is an effective tool for this search. For each popular keyword, register a domain. Build a content rich site on each domain. Write content for sub-directories in your main domain. Each of them will contain a theme in relation to the domain keyword. The home page of each of your content site should link to your main website. This is a smart way of directing all related searches towards your main domain website.
• In order to obtain a high ranking in MSN, register the version ‘.org’ of your main website domain name. This is because MSN prefers this version of domain names.
• Make use of a domain registration service that can register domain names in real-time. The registar should also offer a 301 redirect service and a complete POP3 email.
• Dig in for expired domain names that may contain already existing backlinks. They are the key to instant free domain traffic as well as swift search engine listings.
• Last but not least; register domains for key-in/type-in traffic. That is names or phrases that people might type directly into the address bar.

Now, you’re all set to get free domain traffic!

Three Basic Steps to Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization is the use of varied techniques to enable web pages to appear more attractive to search engines. A well optimised site or page is likely to be ranked higher for any given search than a less well optimised page. The higher the ranking of a page the more traffic your website will receive and the more traffic your website the greater the revenue that your pages can generate for you. So, the key to internet marketing succcess is good internet search engine optimization - or at least, better optimisation than your competition.

Studies of search engine results have shown that searchers rarely look at websites that do not have a ranking on of the first two pages of search engine results - indeed most searchers do not look much past the first four or five results. Web pages that are ranked on the third page or after will see only a very small proportion of the traffic available for any given keyword or phrase. In the world of e-commerce and internet marketing, ranking and strong search engine optimization is ALL!.

For the beginner, search engine optimization may feel at first, like trying to climb Mount Everest, a huge scary world full of unfamiliar jargon like web crawlers, PageRank, Meta tags, and algorithms. You’ve probably never heard of any of these things until now. A quick internet search of the word ‘algorithm’ doesn’t offer much help - just more jargon and odd symbols.

However, this is something that can be learnt! Sit down, take a deep breath, and try to relax. Search engine optimization is a lot simpler then you might at first think.

Let’s take it from the top.

Algorithms actually are just as complex as they look. Simply defined they are a finite set of carefully defined instructions and rules. Pretty much all computer programs are designed with strict algorithms so Google is doing nothing that is not already happening inside your computer every second it is working..

PageRank is simply an output from the Google designed algorithm. It is a system that enables Google to assess how important a webpage is to the users of the internet. The development of PageRank is credited with bringing Google’s incredible success.

Web crawlers are software robots that search engines use to browse the World Wide Web in a methodical, automated manner. When web crawlers are browsing websites they are checking the content of the page against the algorithms to assess their value and to record where a page is and how it was reached.

Meta tags are special HTML tags that provide information to about a web page. Meta tags are written directly into the title tag and are only visible to the search engine.

The reality of search engine optimization is that you can start to optimize your website without any knowledge at all of the technical stuff involved in search engine optimization. The very first step in designing a website that is going to be well ranked by the search engines is to create a content rich site. In internet marketing we have a saying ‘Content is King’ and this is absolutely true! What this means is that you must put as much information about your topic/subject into your website as you possibly can without appearing unnatural - both readers and search engines can detect when a page’s content is unnaturally stuffed with keywords to artificially boost a page’s search engine rank.

The third step to search engine optimization is to fill your site with keywords that will attract the web crawler’s attention. The final step in a wonderfully optimized website is to submit it to the search engine that will complement it.
